Pinata Cam

Who knew turning 38 could be so much fun! I decided that I wanted to have a low-key birthday this year... and Christa offered to host a mini birthday gathering at her house. She and Emily surprised me with a birthday pinata!

This was the first time I ever had the opportunity to swing at a pinata! It was great fun, as you can probably surmise from the pictures. Luckily nothing in Christa's living room was damaged during the festivities... although there is a possibility that Rebecca may have peed her pants on the couch from laughing so hard! :-)

Inside the pinata turned out to be some super fun party favors that matched everyone's personality! Well, just about everyone. Jon is just too well rounded to be pigeon holed like the rest of us crazies!

Here we have "Little Miss Chatterbox".

Followed by "Little Miss Sunshine"

"Little Miss Naughty" which is the understatement of the year!

And no surprise to anyone... "Little Miss Bossy".

Unfortunately, the best we could do for Jon was... "Pentel".

Some other highlights from the evening... a little Nintendo Wii action... Here we have Rebecca and Christa demonstrating their awesome hula hooping skills!

However, I don't think that anything could top the extra special birthday song provided from Rebecca's childhood Sunday School memories. Emily did her best to capture it on video for another You Tube performance... but Rebecca proved to be too elusive. But regardless! It was a fantastic birthday performance Boo! I look forward to growing another year older in hopes to hear you perform it again for me!

Thanks everyone for making it such a great birthday!

Happy Birthday Virgos!!!!

Just returned from a surprise birthday party for our friend Connie at one of our favorite places... China China. Actually, it was a shared birthday celebration for Connie, myself, our friend Shelley, and Ross and Connie's friend Todd. Our annual "Virgo" birthday outing!

Some of you are aware that we inadvertently started a tradition a few years ago... of making Connie homemade birthday cards. Each year we try to top the one from the year before. After last year's card (we made her a comic book!) we didn't think we could top it. However, I woke up this morning with the inspiration of making Connie into Martha Stewart for a day (or month)! Armed with a Martha Stewart Living magazine cover as inspiration... we created Connie King Living!

Not only did we create a birthday card using the magazine "cover"... but we framed a copy for posterity (as one of her previous cards was vandalized by an over eager dog child!). But we couldn't stop there! We found a magazine called BUST! (Not as racy as you might think.) It appears to be a feminist magazine publication for "women that need to get something off their chest". We printed an 8x10 version of Connie's magazine cover and glued it to the front! It turned out great! You can see me perusing the magazine below. (Photo courtesy of Jon.)

As it turns out, Stephanie (our good friend from China China) is also a Virgo... so we included her in our festivities! You can see us all below cutting the cake with a cleaver... which we were told is good luck! What a fun evening! Happy Birthday everyone!

Zoom Zoom and Yee Ha!

We finally broke down and bought a new car for Jon over the weekend! His old car has lasted him 11 years... so he was due for a new one! After hours of intense negotiations we finally got a car that we liked and a price that we were happy with! Whew! Yes, we broke with tradition and went with a non-Saturn vehicle.
It is a fun little car that is functional, but still looks cool. It is a Mazda 3 in Copper Red. I think Jon is very pleased. Now if we can just make ourselves stop saying "Zoom Zoom" everytime we get in it...

A few weeks back, we joined our friends Christa and Rebecca (who we affectionatley refer to as "Boo") at a local restaurant called Cadillac Ranch for the sole purpose of riding a mechanical bull. This stems from a confession by Rebecca that she once rode a mechanical bull in Tucson! Since then, Christa and I have been dying to see the Rodeo Queen in action! The stipulation was that Christa and I had to ride first! After a few false starts, we finally got Boo on the bull! It was the realization of a dream! Honestly though... the funniest thing is watching her attempts to get ON the bull in the first place... and not so much her actual ride! Christa has been kind enough to post all of our humiliations on You Tube for the world to see. I am quite proud that someone even rated my video with one star! Enjoy the show! You will note that my ride is titled "Rodeo Cosmo". This came from the name of a drink served at the restaurant. I decided it would be a perfect name to use if I joined the rodeo! Plus, it was equally fitting that the remainder of our evening included a trip to see the Sex and the City movie!

Rebecca's Ride! Yeeeeee haaaaaaa!

Bill's ride... (Don't blink... or you will miss it!)

Been a long time since an update!

Okay... we have been dinged for not keeping the blog up to date. Our apologies. Seems like there are never enough hours in the day sometimes!

Let's see... since the last update... we have gone on a cruise from San Diego to Vancouver which was nice (aside from Bill having a day of sea sickness). We really enjoyed the experience and look forward to doing it again... although we both agree that a warmer climate will be in order!
Aside from a couple of long weekend trips to Palm Springs, we haven't done a lot of traveling. In April (or was it May?) we made a brief visit to Texas to celebrate the birthdays of Jon's mom and grandmother!

Aside from that, it has been a pretty quiet Winter and Spring. We recently bought a Nintendo Wii which we have been enjoying immensely! Last week, we purchase the Wii Fit... and have been having a ball with it! Jon as it turns out... is a hula hoop master! For anyone who has not seen the Wii Fit... we highly recommend checking it out! Not sure if we will indeed become fitter over time... but we are having a lot of fun with it... and are definitely being more active than we would have been otherwise.

Until next time, hope everyone out there is doing well! Feel free to leave a comment... even an anonymous one... to say Hello!
